Late Spring bird photos
Its that time of year when we see the young birds around our yard, learning to fly and being fed by their parents. Here's a young female Cardinal. (Click to enlarge any photo).
And a baby Sparrow being fed by a parent.
A few days ago, we had our second visit by a Northern Flicker, a male this time. We had a female here last Memorial Day but hadn't seen one since then. He has a bright red "Y" shaped marking on the back of his head. As he flew off, I saw the flash of his yellow tail feathers which are characteristic of the Eastern version of this species.

Though found in widely varied habitats and climates, it typically avoids extensive woodlands, grasslands and deserts away from human development. Thanks a lot.....
