Northern Mockingbird is a beauty

Our first sighting of a Northern Mockingbird at our feeder was on January 8th of this year.  Since then, he (or she) has been returning intermittently, much to our delight.  This bird is so graceful and expressive, and I love those yellow eyes.  We've been told that they sing beautifully at night and we're looking forward to that.

The other day, I saw him pecking at the apple that I cut up and tossed out the back door.  Now that I know he's a fruit eater, he'll be getting lots more!

Both images captured with my Nikon D300s and my Nikkor 17-200 mm F/2.8 VRII lens.  Shot at ISO400 at f/3.5 for 1/320s.

Yesterday I covered the Purim Carnival at the Glen Rock Jewish Center for Patch.com.  For the first time, the editor set my photos to a slideshow video, with music.  Something different!  Individual photos with captions are below the video.  Click here for the link.

Womens Health & Fitness Day at Intrepid

Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum is celebrating Women's History Month.  Sunday, I photographed exhibitors and guests along with the participants in yoga and pilates classes offered to promote women's health and fitness.  (Click on any image to enlarge, use back arrow to return.)

Working those abs!  I also got a good workout yesterday, by walking on the steel deck of the ship while carrying my heavy camera bag ... and I did extra time on the machine this morning.  A very motivating day!

Out and about in Glen Rock

My cameras and I were busy this weekend.  On Saturday, did a photo shoot for Glen Rock Patch ... An "around town" look at people outdoors enjoying the finally-seasonable 50 degree weather.

The Circus comes to town

A photographer's delight, the circus!  Here are just a few of the images captured at the Ringling Brothers Circus show "Fully Charged" this weekend, from our seats in the ninth row.
What's more adorable than an elephant sitting down?
Gotta love them!
These Russian strongmen bore no expression as they slowly moved around each other, lifting, and gently setting the other down.

New York City skyline after dark

Saturday morning, did a photo shoot at Glen Rock High School, covering their Spring Boutique for Patch.com. Click here for photos and article.

Then, we were off to the circus!  (Photos posted later).

And for a photographic nightcap, took a few shots of the NYC skyline as seen from a park in Jersey City.  Shot at ISO 3200 at f2.8 for 1/25s.  Camera supported but not on a tripod.  Some post work done in LightRoom 3 for clarity and luminance.  Lower res photos here.
