Sunset at the George Washington Bridge

This was a simple iPhone shot on our way across the George Washington Bridge, from New York City to northern New Jersey, where we live.  Then I ran it through HDR software and it really popped.  September 13, 2014.

Home Renovation photos - Interior and Exterior

Back in April, I completed four stained glass windows for a beautiful home in NJ which had been ravaged by a fire.  The windows were installed in the kitchen.  Here's my Boehm Stained Glass Studio blog link to the windows.  The contractor hired me again, this time to photograph the exterior and interior of this green-built home, his latest pride and joy.  These photos serve as a record of his work, but may also be used on his website or for advertising purposes. Take a look .. Click on any photo to enlarge.

I created a panorama for this photo, then ran it through HDR software.  I especially like the brightness and color saturation combined with the strong contrasty shadows.

With every photo shoot, I offer every client multiple styles.  My goal is to provide a wide variety of angles and photographic techniques.  In addition to the standard color photos, I add in some black and whites.  Below, the architectural details of this magnificent home are shown to full advantage.

For one of the photos of the back of the home, I merged two photos and added HDR effects.

Sunny back patio.

Another angle on the front, in black and white which shows the two-car garage and some of the sweeping landscaping.

Looking from the back of the living room toward the front door.

The adjoining porch next to the living room.

As with every other facet of this home, even the wiring was painstakingly done.  Beautiful job!

One of the beautiful bedrooms.

The kitchen, looking into the living room.  Note two of my stained glass windows to the right, behind the hanging lamp.

Two more of my stained glass windows are on either side of the range hood.

Memorial Day Ceremony at Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

When it comes to military ceremonies, the Intrepid is tops.  Its always a pleasure to witness the unfurling of the 100' American flag on the Pier at the museum.  Here are some of my images from the day where our Military was truly honored.

Navy League, NY Council Reception for Officers & Commanders - Fleet Week

This wonderful Fleet Week event returned last night after a one year hiatus due to gov't cutbacks.  The Reception for Officers and Commanders, held at the prestigious New York Athletic Club on Columbus Circle, hosted dozens of military personnel for an evening of cocktails, hors d'ouerves and socializing.  It was an honor to be there among our distinguished service men and women.  Here are some of my photos:

Impromptu portrait of George Simpson, Executive Secretary of the Navy League, NY Council.
Opera soloist and President of the New York Council Navy League, Ted Mason, USN Capt., Ret'd
Casual photo of the Color Guard.

The open air terrace offered another space in which to relax and socialize.

The ball room was filled to capacity with members of the military, spouses, friends and supporters.

The captains of each ship in New York harbor for Fleet Week were announced with a bosun's whistle and bell, in a traditional military ceremony.

Intrepid's "Future of Space" event with Astronaut Mike Massimino

This past Tuesday evening, I had the pleasure of photographing the "Future of Space" event at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in NYC.  The event featured a Panel Discussion moderated by Ira Flatow, the host of public radio's Science Friday program.  Participating in the discussion were NASA astronaut Mike Massimino; Bobak Ferdowsi, an engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL); and Will Pomerantz, VP of special projects at Virgin Galactic.  Here are some of my photos.

The Lutnick Theater aboard the Intrepid was filled with space enthusiasts for this special event.  Below, the view from the front row.

At the conclusion of the program, audience members wrote their questions on cards which were read by moderator Ira Flatow.

Richard Gariotte (blue shirt), the son of Owen Gariotte, the only father-son team which has flown in space.  He was the sixth space participant.  He also spent time aboard the International Space Station.

Baby squirrels .. First day out of the nest

Since my last post, I've taken hundreds and hundreds of photos .. But with my stained glass work, there's been no time to post!  (Which is OK!).  Yesterday though, I was treated to the sight of two baby squirrels venturing out of the nest for the first time yesterday, April 9, 2014.  Here are a few of the images.

Intrepid Kids Week - Wednesday, February 19, 2014

Wednesday, I went back to Intrepid to photograph a second day of Kids Week which runs from February 15th through the 23rd.  There are always a wonderful variety of performances, activities, and interesting facts to learn for not just the kids, but parents as well.  The event is held annually when the NYC Public School system has winter break.  Today's theme was "Animal Safari" and here are some of the images from the day.  Click on any photo to enlarge.

Master Falconer Lorrie Schumacher showing the Barn Owl from Talons of Prey.  She and her daughter, Talon Skye, brought several raptors with them.

Chris Evers, Director and Founder of Animal Embassy brought several animals to the Intrepid, two of which are "Costa" and "Rica", tree frogs.

Young man delighted to hold a very fat African bull frog which can sleep for a full year.

Talon with her European Eagle Owl named Big Mama.
Big Mama and the kids of Camp Intrepid.
Kids were attentive as Chris Evers brought out more animals, one at a time, and taught the kids about each one.
The daughter of an Intrepid employee visited her Mom at work and got to feed a tortoise.
Young people getting a lesson on the life which lives in the Hudson River, from a representative of the Hudson River Park Trust.
Lorri and the Barn Owl entertaining a group of adults and children.
Again, the little darling of the raptors had everyone's attention.
Actors from the Wildlife Theater of the Central Park Zoo were colorful and attention-getting.  The kids loved them.
Talon and "Big Mama" walking off the stage toward the audience, to give them a closer look at the European Eagle Owl.

Kids Week was well attended on Wednesday.
The Harris Hawk, named Pichu, about to take off.  He flew around the Hangar Deck and through the arms of people on stage.
