Martin Luther King, Jr. Day local observance
Yesterday marked the 29th annual observance of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, held at the Ridgewood United Methodist Church and at Memorial Park at Van Neste Square. Officials and students from Ridgewood and Glen Rock, and spiritual leaders from various faiths, gathered together to share messages of the theme of the day, “working for the common good.”
Following a peace march through several streets around the square, participants enjoyed a free lunch at the Church, followed by a keynote address, and call to action, by New Jersey Public Defender Yvonne Smith Segars.
