Patch.com shoot on Saturday June 10

From Rockleigh, I was called to cover a kitchen fire in Westwood ...

Space Shuttle Enterprise Arrives at Intrepid

Captured 7 consecutive shots to create this panorama of the throngs of people on the pier who waited hours for the entire Shuttle operation to be completed.

The Shuttle was welcomed aboard her new home at Intrepid on Wednesday, as she made her way up the Hudson, surrounded by a flotilla of Police and Coast Guard boats and private vessels.  The banks of the River on both the NJ and NY sides were thronged with people enjoying the sight of this beautiful space craft being slowly towed upriver to the Flight Deck. I was honored to be chosen to photograph the event for Intrepid.

Quite a spectacle!  Helicopters overhead, international coverage.

She's home!

 My husband, Eric Boehm, Curator of Aviation and Aircraft Restoration, welcoming the Enterprise ..
He and his team will now be responsible for her upkeep.  Quite an honor!

Memorial Day aboard Intrepid

The Memorial Day Ceremony was held this year on the Pier rather than on the Flight Deck, since the Flight Deck is being prepared for the arrival of the Space Shuttle Enterprise.  This year was another hot, sunny one with hundreds of military and families and supporters present.

A new technique for me .. A panorama of the 100' flag unfurled on the Pier, held up by currently enlisted and veteran members of the Armed Forces.

My husband, Eric, (blue cap) took his place at the perimeter as a 20-year veteran of the Air Force.

Space Shuttle Enterprise de-mated from 747 - Photos

After napping on and off all day, Eric and I headed over to JFK on Saturday night/Sunday morning.  We arrived at 2:00 a.m. and witnessed the process of disconnecting the two aircraft.  Eric did several media hits, for TV and radio, before we headed home at 4:30 a.m.  (Click on any photo to enlarge).

Space Shuttle Enterprise lands at JFK - Photos

After 3 years of lobbying and planning, and two weather delays, the Space Shuttle Enterprise, bound for Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum, finally took off from its former home at the National Air & Space Museum in Washington D.C. and landed at JFK Airport to the cheers of hundreds of supporters and a worldwide TV and radio audience.  (Click any photo to enlarge).

It was a blustery, chilly morning but the blue skies and puffy white clouds were a gorgeous backdrop to the elegant aircraft flying overhead.  As the Shuttle taxied toward the reviewing stands, the 747 pilot poked his head out of the plane and flew a flag which will be donated to Intrepid and made part of the exhibit when it opens to the public in July.

NY Senator Chuck Schumer addressed the crowd, as did "Mr. Spock", Leonard Nimoy, who told the story of the Trekkies who, in 1976,  lobbied President Ford to change the name of the Shuttle from "Constitution" to "Enterprise."  Mr. Nimoy came back to see "his" space ship again, 36 years after it rolled out of the assembly plant in Palmdale, CA.

Dozens of kids dressed in space suits came to see this historic landing, some from Ridgewood NJ Hawes Elementary School, where I photographed its re-opening ceremony for Patch.com in September.

Hamilton School HSA Benefit at Community Church of Glen Rock

A wonderful event was held Saturday night in Glen Rock, a silent auction social to benefit Hamilton Elementary School.  The event, "Rock the School" featured "Mr. H.", the bass player and his band, Franklin Lakes.  Brian Holmgren is a physical education teacher at the school.  Here are some photos from the event ..
